I make the following commitments as an artist and digital creator:I will acknowledge that 70% of the world's cobalt is sourced from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This cobalt and other conflict minerals are unethically sourced through slave labor, local and international conflict, and genocidal warfare.I will acknowledge that the electronic devices I use everyday--including cell phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, assistive devices and more--are products of unethically and illegally sourced conflict materials.I will resist the continued exploitation of the Congolese people and neighboring communities by buying refurbished devices whenever possible, providing old devices for refurbishment and use by others, reducing first sales numbers for multinational technology companies.I will donate earnings from commissions and revenue to organizations supporting liberation of affected communities, including the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan.I will educate myself, peers and audiences on alternatives to unethically-sourced devices and companies that support genocidal administrations and conflicts.RESOURCES
